Official bio

Dr Helen Fraser studied phonetics and related subjects at Macquarie University (BA Hons 1st class 1983) and the University of Edinburgh (PhD 1989). Having worked at various universities in the UK and Ireland, she returned home to Australia, where she taught phonetics and related disciplines at the University of New England for 18 years. Since 2008, she has worked as an independent researcher and consultant, focusing mainly on forensic transcription and on spoken communication between native and non-native speakers of English. Helen is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of New England, Armidale, NSW.
